Summertime thoughts
It’s summertime in Easytown, and everything’s going swimmingly. The band is keeping busy with all sorts of groovy action, and there’s a wild assortment of explosions on the radar.
We performed at the Jones Beach band shell (as our alter ego “EasycorE”) on Saturday August 15th, and that was a tremendous thrill for us. The weather was perfect, and everyone loved our performance (especially the toddlers who were dancing up a storm during songs like “The Twist” and “Louie Louie”). We even busted out the new-and-improved Wheel Of Easy game show during intermission, but it wasn’t exactly the big hit that we were hoping it’d be, and so it got cut short. The 2nd set included some surprises, even for ourselves. All the musicians crapped out during our one Peter Frampton number (“Baby I Love Your Way”), except for Tim who sang it for the crowd a cappella while Spring got the audience going and clapping along. Another fun surprise, was when Dennis Lucenti began playing bass and they band suddenly clicked right into Rolling Stones mode (“Honkytonk Women”). None of us saw that one coming, but we had some fun with it and the crowd enjoyed it too. Notables in the audience included Stella Pipitone, Pamela Fregeau, Debra Ann Kasimakis, Bob Goida, Mike Ferrari, Lori Ferrari, Dr Sharone Stern, Evan Campanella, Justin Gunther, Greg Frisina, Kaitlyn Piccoli, and Brad Pareso.
Up next, it’s the Twangstock surf music festival in Levittown. Ya gotta love surf music! Turn up that reverb dial and let’s twang it up! Marbles Mahoney will be our drummer for this action, and Tim Easy will be freestyling lyrics for 45 minutes. It’s an improvisational set, and our set list will probably look something like this:
Surfin’ Easytown
Surfer MILF
Baby You Know I Can Surf
Sunnamabeach
Ed Ryan Beach Party
Sunscreeen Rhapsody
She Met Me By The Dunes (She Forgot Me An Hour Later)
Don’t Surf On My Turf
Russ Rogers Mondo Surf Guitar Freakout

And then there was DARE Studios!
In 2008, we had a few band practices in Massapequa Park, even though it soon became abundantly clear that we were basically settling for less and getting what we paid for (which was essentally nothing).
Well, it’s a new year now (2009) and we’re moving in some fresh directions!
DARE Studios in Deer Park has been very good to musicians since it came into being during the early 1990’s. The owner of this establishment, Mike Epstein, is one of the best bassplayers you’ll ever meet, and he also plays a mean guitar, Lindsey Buckingham style! And when it comes to recording and studio engineering, DARE Studios is right up there amongst the better studios Long Island has to offer.
Whether you are in a Long Island band, or a solo artist, remember that DARE Studios is conveniently located in Deer Park, with easy access to the Southern State Parkway (exit 41 north). For more information, visit them at www.darestudios.com or call them at 631-243-2377
Flyer design by Joey V. Ahoy, mateys! Arrrr! Get yourselves ready for an action-packed evening on Long Island’s infamous Nautical Mile in Freeport! It might still be wintertime, but baby it’s warm inside the Blue42 joint, and baby this joint is jumpin’! The Suck It Easy Band performs TWO big sets of 50s 60’s 70’s hits, and it all starts in the 8 o’clock hour! Special thanks for Bruce Chamoff, for making this voyage possible! Hey Freeport, prepare to be blown out of the water!
